THE MOTORISTS

I was allocated to the 11th floor of Summit Hotel, USJ and my room is overlooking the traffic and the rows of terrace houses. I have the chance to attend to this Form 6 Seminar at the national level held here.

I just can't help pitying the motorists as they were in such a situation where I also have to face it everyday of my working life now especially on my way home from office. But I understand that the jam is just for the traffic lights to be green again. I think as the city residents you just simply have to be patience.
Somehow as one have to travel for a distance to get to work and on top of it you have to pass the city, another reason to be bear in mind is the closure of the road. The road has to be upgraded or whatever they have to do with it besides the jam, besides the landslide besides the conditions of your car. Bless me.

WHEREABOUT

I went home that Wednesday afternoon getting a lift from a friend until Rawang from Ipoh. We went to bank to clear some payments and had lunch in Kuala Kubu Bharu. KKB is no longer in my diary since I transferred back to Taman Midah by July 2009.

Then I caught a commuter until Bandar Tasik Selatan. It was my first time and Ucin took me home. It costs me RM4.20 only and there were a lot of people. I don't think I like to try it again.

Last Thursday I went to office but went home early as I felt quite tired after all Friday was Eid Adha. I didn't do anything for the day even though I bought something to cook.

Friday - all the five of us were home but abang still went to work on Eid Adha. Pity him. I just made rendang.

Saturday afternoon - the two of us with En Radzi and wife went to visit Nurul's house for the date. I was of course our first experience.
By about 4.00pm both of us started our journey to Pengkalan Balak to be together with their family gathering near the beach really. We just stay in one of the homestay.
This entry was done with my Celcom Broadband of course.

IPOH

I think this co-curiculum course is good revision for me. Many things I take for granted. I meet new friends and of course my Hulu Selangor friends.

By the way I took the trouble buying the card for RM10.00 to have two hours of internet from the hotel kiosk. This three star hotel does not provide wifi facility to the room. This situation is really funny to a motel in Alor Star - Bee Garden Motel.

IPOH

I reached Hotel Heritage Ipoh about 6.00 pm after travelling more than 500 km from Kota Bharu. We stopped only at Pulau Banding somewhere in Royal Belum I supposed, around 11.30 am after passing Jeli and Tanah Merah. We again stopped in Kuala Kangsar for the bank and makan laksa and air cendol. Then we went to his Manong to meet a few of his brothers and sisters there. We were there for less than an hour.

Continuing we went to visit his father in Ipoh before sending me here.
All of us were dead tired really. But somehow I enjoyed the trip to Kota Bharu even it rained most of day. Thankyou.

TRAVELLING TO IPOH

We left Kota Bharu about 8.00 morning after having breakfast at Kedai Kopi Din Tokyo. Before continuing the journey we stopped at Nilam Puri Police Station to ask for advice because the flood is getting worse. It is not advisable to go through Gua Musang. We have to go to Tanah Merah and Jeli before going to Ipoh. I have to attend to the Co-curiculum Course held in Ipoh from this 22 to 25 November.

This entry is done while travelling in crv to Jeli.
The images were uploaded a week later.

KOTA BHARU DAY 3

This morning we are supposed to leave Kota Bharu. I am glad we had some times together here even though it rains the whole day long. Mostly we have been to all the places near this hotel. Thankyou for taking us here.

All these entries while in Kota Bharu were done in this Hotel Temenggong using Celcom Broadband.

KOTA BHARU DAY 2

It is raining today. Just drizzling most of the time - very seldom heavy. I did some shopping though. I managed to buy abang samping. I bought some kueh. Just simply buy.

Since his team won the game this morning they have to continue to the semi-final. That means we will be in Kota Bharu until tomorrow. Actually I had bought the things I wanted to buy. But that's ok. Yesterday the three of us went to the Muzium nearby.

So to count this month I managed to follow him to Quality Hotel Shah Alam, then I had my course in Kuala Lumpur Hotel City Villa and now we are in budget Hotel, Hotel Temenggong which is very near Pasar Siti Khatijah. We used to have our makan at Kedai Kopi Din Tokyo which is just next to the hotel.

KOTA BHARU

Actually now is the rainy season. I don't know why they held the game of rugby in Kota Bharu now. I think those organizing the game already knew this before hand but Kota Bharu somehow manage the game so far in spite the rains.

We, me and my two kids, are following him even though we knew it is the usual year end monsoon rain but we thought we won't have the chance like this in the rain, so we came and after all they are having their semester holidays.

Yesterday the three of us had some shopping in Pasar Siti Khatijah. The Pasar is undergoing renovations. I bought batik for Ita too.

So last night in the rain, we had our dinner at Pantai Cahaya Bulan. We had the grilled fish with the three taste (mind my horrible English - yet I still insist writing in English) and the fritters. We had dinner here everytime we come to Kota Bharu. I supposed this is our third time, We came here in April 2008 (I think so) when we visited Ita while she was having her PLKN in Tok Bali Pasir Puteh after her SPM and JMTI. The second time I went with the Semashurian teachers when they were visitng SMS Macang and Faris Petra (I couldn't remember when exactly).

KOTA BHARU DAY 1

Yesterday we started the journey at 10.48 am. We only stopped somewhere in Gua Musang for toilet and some food around 3.oo pm. He did the driving all alone. We reached Kota Bharu at about 6.15 pm after driving for more than 460 km from home. We are now staying in Hotel Temenggong which it is very near Pasar Siti Khatijah.

So far what we have taken I think the food is just the same price as Kuala Lumpur but there are a lot of varieties. With the short time I couldn't choose which one.

TODAY 20 NOVEMBER 2009

Today Friday, the last day of the school academic session 2009. I am taking a leave as I will be going to Kota Bharu. Ucin and Ita are going with us. I hope to spend the time like those few years ago when we went to Kangar, Pulau Pinang and even Bangi.

So last night all the five of us were home. Again this situation was rare even before they are independent. I precious these moment. I wonder those who have many siblings.

By the way I had my new dentures fixed last night. So now I can smile openly for RM650.00. I like it.

DRIVING HOME

These days I have to drive home in the rain. It is rather heavy. And I am scared of the landslide.

CHOW KIT

I have to attend a Financial Course organized by Institute Aminuddin Baki held in Hotel City Villa Chow Kit. It is just the same like more than ten years ago. Actually I had been here before twice - under the name Asia hotel or may be South East Asia Hotel, can't remember exactly. The hotel is rather old. The furnitures is of course, old. I am not trying to downgrade anything about this hotel. It is just a three star hotel.

Now the surrounding of the hotel. You just can't find where is the route to the parking lot of the hotel. It is being blocked by the small stalls nearby. The scenery of the hotel really in terrible shape. I am not comparing to those four, five stars hotels. I have been to this Bee Garden Motel in Alor Star - well it is quite brand new, but it is just a motel - no star whatsoever. In this motel one can get a wifi straight in your room. But not this hotel down in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. About this wifi thing, one can't also get it in Quality Hotel Shah Alam, only in the lobby. I have just been there last week following him for three nights. Just surprising with these hotel facilities.

This Chow Kit area is a place where you can get many things cheaply but of course I am not held responsible for their quality. There is a wet market nearby, everything is sold at a reasonable price especially the fruits. You can get all types of fruit here. Just don't mention the cleanliness.

I love this Sam Saimun's. Here is the lyric.

Di wajah mu ku lhat bulan – SAM SAIMUN

Di wajahmu kulihat bulan
Menerangi hati gelap rawan
Biarlah daku mencari naungan
Di wajah damai rupawan

Serasa tiada jauh dan mudah dicapai tangan
Ingin hati menjangkau kiranya tinggi di awan

Di wajahmu kulihat bulan
Bersembunyi di balik senyuman
Jangan biarkan ku tiada berkawan
Hamba menanti kan tuan

THE CLASSIC SONGS

Because I have to drive about 84 km a day at a mininum, it is kind of boring and damned sleepy to be behind the wheel. It is some sort of surprise if I can stay alert and pay full attention after reaching the Hotel Legend spot on my way home. Usually it is bump to bump quite slow moving. I used to slap my face to stay alert.
So I listen to my type of music. I like P Ramlee and Saloma. Last Saturday I managed to buy M Bakri, Nona Asiah and Ahmad Jais CDs. I love Sam Saimun, Hasnah Tahar, Jaafar O, Rahim Omar, Rosiah Chik. May be a few others. At this age I just don't know how to appreciate Rihanna, Beyonce or Timberlake or even Britney Spears. May be I like Whitney Houston, Cilla Black, Matt Monroe, Andy William or Nat King Cole. Remember all these singers?
I will try to search all these lovely songs .

TODAY 07 NOVEMBER 2009

The two nurses doing it.

After leaving Quality Hotel of Shah Alam at about 9.00 am I went straight to the Shah Alam Mosque to get some breakfast. I managed to buy some food for lunch also. There are many dishes at quite reasonable price.

When I reached home I went to out-patient clinic in Bandar Tun Razak near that Pak Aji shop for pap smear test. Never even think about the test these few months. It is free. It was not so bad but of course you have to spread your legs. I will know the result in three months time. I think the last test I did was about twenty years ago when I had Ucin or Ita in Hospital KL - I just simply can't remember. Brain fog. But what I remembered is this is the second time I did it.

Then I have my hair cut. I like it crew cut. I feel my head very light then. A nice feeling about yourself.

THINKING POSITIVELY

Everybody wants to work near home. So you don't have to spend much time in travelling. May be the tol and petrol or car maintaince won't be that bad after all it is just a short distance. And very sure you don't face the traffic jam.

But if you have the shortest 42 km one way to work and on top of it you have to pass the city of Kuala Lumpur, you face everything.

The driving takes less than one hour meaning you have to start early from home. If you are late you will reach office most probably one hour later because of the jam.

AND the traffic is for sure busy in the late afternoon. It is very rarely not to get involve with the traffic on my way home. It will start somewhere with the spot looking Hotel Legend. It will end usually either near DBP or just to the former roundabout to Bandar Tun Razak of Jalan Loke Yew. This costs me about four or ten km. I can say I just have to face it everyday on my way home. I am indeed very very lucky if I have a smooth journey. But then I must leave office by 3.00 pm. I don't know if I can do this everyday.

So to avoid the traffic, my alternatives that are available are: One, leave the office very early - by about 3.00 pm. This is a gurantee. Two, use the PLUS highway, this costs me RM3.20 for tol and about 49 km if I used the correct route, if not it takes me about 70 km and more than RM5.00 tol - I already face it because I accidently use a different lane. There are six lanes if I am not mistaken after the Damansara tol - you have to know exactly.

Another thing there is a surprise factor which I never realise is the landslide. Last Tuesday there was a landslide at Bukit Rincing in Selayang. It costs me a day of leave after I couldn't think quickly which alternative route to go to work. How at this late hour of my working life I have to pass the city of Kuala Lumpur to go to work? The time, the city of Kuala Lumpur, the distance, the traffic and suddenly the landslide are the factors going to work.

I forgot my City must be in tip-top condition - that IS a factor of long journey. Thinking positively others don't face this problems and some have no choice to accept the fact of their life. Just enjoy it. If not heart attack or hypertension is there. In less than four years time I will stop working somehow. Bless me.

FOLLOWING HIM

Image of UITM Tower seen from our room.
Ucin - when he came over for the few minutes .

I used to follow him wherever he goes with his meetings all over the country. I really don't know is it a good practice or just plain jealous, stupid or in fact crazy.
In May 2004 the three of us managed to follow him to Kangar then because it was during the school holidays. In 2006 (I thought so sometime in June) he had his meeting in Sungai Petani, I followed him because it was near Ucin's KMPP. I managed to go to Kangar to visit my father there during his meeting then. Sometime late 2006 I followed him to Alor Star. Last year in June 2008, he had his meeting in Bandar Baru Darulaman and this time it was near Ita's KMK.
Now he is having his meeting in Shah Alam. I followed him through. Our two UITM kids are near then but they are having their semester final examinations.
Still they managed for the few hours to be together. I think UITM is less than 5 km from the hotel.
And since the landslide last Tuesday, I simply have to detour my route to work. I have to take the PLUS highway which costs me RM3.20 and 49 km. But from Quality Hotel Shah Alam, it costs me RM5.00 tol, mostly taking the Guthrie Highway and barely 43 km one way. I did the journey yesterday. Just about the same distance from home minus the tol. I don't know I am plain crazy with numbers. And still I have my meeting in JPNS Shah Alam - well that is simply one very very good reason to follow him to Shah Alam.

THOSE SWEET WORDS

Excavators and lorries clearing the soil on the road after the landslide. – By Azhar Mahfof / The Star
I denied the usual route I take everyday. I use the PLUS highway from home this morning to avoid the spot above. it costs me RM3.20 and 49 km. But I managed a smooth journey on my way home driving along the usual Selayang Road.
He phoned me the other day asking where am I so that we could go for breakfast together. I was already in office. I thought I had told him that I am going to work as we had to make up the day for my staff held for Deevali extra holiday. It was a Saturday. Of course it is usually a holiday. And we usually had breakfast together somewhere. How sweet.
Just now he phoned me asking when I am going to see him as he got a very big spacious room there. Well, even though I am rather tired after driving the usual 42 km, I don't mind driving another 30 km to be with him. How sweet romantic. Just love it. Some sweet do.

TODAY

From NST Online
LANDSLIDE AT KM10, JLN SELAYANG-RAWANG: Cleaning up work at the landslide area is in progress but the road is expected to remain closed until at least 7am tomorrow.

From Utusan Malaysia Online

I left home a bit late - 6.25 am. It is just an ordinary day - nothing should happen. After driving more than 22 km and the time about 6.50 am, I have to detour to Selayang. And I found it ridicolous. So I turned 360 degrees, still I couldn't pass the KL - Rawang route. I screamed at myself - how could there is something in the morning. This is too much to bear. So far the jam happened in the evening on my way home.
There is a landslide and it won't be ok till tomorrow - at least 7.00 am - NST news.

THE DRIVINGS

How not to say tired after all you have to drive at least 84 km a day? It will be more if I use alternative route to avoid the jam. After four months I am dead tired. I am past fifty to deny all these activities. May be others don't find this annoying but it tires me so much. In fact it comes a stage that I am thinking of stepping down or just drop dead everything. So I love weekends so much and waiting for it always like a small kid. I am just trying to be patience now. Just bless me.

THOSE WEEKENDS

Those weekends especially Sunday, the two of us used to travel somewhere. Early 2006 Ita left us for SM Teknik Seri Manjung. She came home almost every fortnightly without fail either by bus, we took her or got a lift from Mak Yan and her friends when they did their Master in UPSI. In earlier time she got a lift from Mak Yan, so I had to take Ita in UPSI. If she took a bus then we had to fetch her in Ulu Bernam RR which is very near the Tanjong Malim tol. Usually I would take her because I was in SMK Syed Mashor Batang Kali, ten km away from Semashur home. Then we would drive her back to Seri Manjung on Sunday. That was 201 km one way which sometimes I did the driving alone.
On some occasions we drove all the way to Seri Manjung to fetch her but we would arrive quite late and she was the last to be fetch. This took palce in 2006 and 2007 - two years for Ita Form 4 and Form 5.
By May 2006, Ucin entered KMPP in Bertam, Kepala Batas, Pulau Pinang for one year. Then we visited him at least once a month. We had our weekend in Seri Manjung or to Bertam. We would take him on Saturday morning or early Friday night. At times we stayed in my parents home in Kamunting. It was seldom Ucin came home because of the short weekends and the long hour of the journey home was not advisable.
Then while waiting for SPM Ita entered JMTI in Bukit Minyak Butterworth. There we visited her once a month. Luckily she was there for only three months.
By April 2008 after SPM results she went for PLKN in Tok Bali Pasir Puteh, Kelantan. We visited her once there and once again she was there hardly a month.
By May 2008 Ita entered KMK in Changloon Kedah for also one year. We visited her once a month. At these while Ucin had already entered UITM. When we visited her in earlier times, we managed to trace her illness and got a treatment in Putra Medical Centre in Alor Star. At first we stayed in Seri Malaysia, later we came to know of Bee Garden Motel which is rather cheap and just opposite of Putra Medical Centre. At times when we visited her we went to Kangar to visit my father there.
We were busy visiting the kids but honestly I felt guilty when we didn't do this for abang when he was in Johor Bahru. Once a month we must be travelling nearly one thousand km per trip. All this ended last April when Ita finished her matriculation.
Now every weekend we took her from her college on Saturday after her Kesatria activity or Friday late evening. It is only 33 km from home which is nearer compare going to my school from home. We will send her back on Sunday.
I miss travelling again like those times, those weekends. But honestly now I don't like doing the driving.
